This exhibits features the work of the many celebrated artists who comprise the Bluegrass Printmakers Collaborative, including work from:
"Diverse Methods" , a group exhibit of the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative, explores an array of personal experiences, learned messages and printmaking mediums. As we travel in our life journey we glean knowledge from our experiences, keeping some, discarding others. This exhibit provides a look into our varied journeys and some of the methods artists use to transcribe personal experience into visual art.
The artwork on exhibit are printmaking pieces; art pieces created by using pressure to transfer inks from a plate to paper. Mediums included in the show are collagraphs, etching, screen printing, monotypes, and linocuts, among others.
The BPC plans several events and hands-on opportunities for community participation.
2015 marks the ten-year anniversary of the Bluegrass Printmakers’ Cooperative, organized to provide local and regional printmakers with a studio space to create prints, share knowledge and provide community. The estate of Lexington artist Lillian Boyer donated her hand-made printmaking press and the BPC began.
The mission of the BPC is to be a thriving print studio where printmakers work and to create a dialogue about prints and art. Through demonstrations, classes and workshops the BPC exposes the community to prints and teaches printmaking processes. As juried members of the cooperative, printmakers also have the opportunity to exhibit and promote their artwork.
Located on the lower level of ArtsPlace in Lexington, the BPC is part of LexArts’ Space to Create initiative, which offers support for local artists and arts organizations.
