Hello thanks for coming to my website! My name is Stephen wiggins and I am a printmaker and artist! I have been drawing since I was two years old and eventually went to SCAPA Lafayette and graduated there and then went to Berea College and transferred to the University of Kentucky! When I went to UK I took painting on a whim from my advisor Arturo Alonzo Sandoval I took a printmaking class in lithography in the fall of 2003 from Raymond Sloan and I was just in awe of how great printmaking was and I was actually good at it! From there I just kept up with it!
Graduated and eventually become a member and then President of the Bluegrass Printmakers Cooperative and in the mean time selling art at shows and festivals in and around Kentucky and getting my associate's degree in graphic design, buying a house. I got married, moved to St. Louis and becoming a Speedball Art Products demo artist all in the span of about 2 years! Then the pandemic happened and to keep myself in a good place mentally my printmaking production ramped up to keep my Patreon page going for my subscribers. Something to the tune of 4 new prints a month. Our daughter was born a year later in 2021 while I was working at amazon walking 30000 steps a day! In 2022 I was invited to be on a panel at the SGCI print conference and then I got a scholarship to take a class by Joseph Velasquez of Drive By press fame at Penland and from there I got invited and was awarded a scholarship to do a residency at Arrowmont called Pentaculum. I was also inducted into the Kentucky Crafted Program and a member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen and just kept applying to every opportunity I could because at this point what does it even matter? And who cares if I get rejected anyway.
I make art just to make art and make work to experiment with different forms of printmaking! I have been teaching since 2013 at the bluegrass printmakers and other non profits and venues inside and around Lexington and becoming the Print Liason for Lexington Parks and Rec.
